IHOP – Free Pancakes on 2/24/2009!

Charity, Food, Freebies, Uncategorized
I just saw an ad about this on TV a moment ago.   Check it out!  Free pancakes! Per their website: Join IHOP to celebrate National Pancake Day on Tuesday, February 24, 2009.  From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., we'll give you one free short stack (three) of our famous buttermilk pancakes. All we ask is that you consider making a donation to support local children's hospitals through Children's Miracle Network, or other local charities. There is a limit of one free short stack per guest.  The offer is valid at participating restaurants for dine-in only while supplies last and is not valid with any other offer, special coupon or discount. Also I learned on the website: Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several…

Washington Post – No Red Plum Coupons?!

Coupons, Newspapers, Uncategorized
Well, the truth is out!  "If you don't get it ...you don't get it." Washington post is one of the large newspapers that won't carry the Red Plum coupons anymore. As of February 1st 2009, RedPlum coupon inserts have been discontinued in many newspapers throughout major US cities. Instead of distributing these coupon inserts in the Sunday paper, Valassis has begun mailing the RedPlum coupon inserts to home addresses. Valassis has pulled their RedPlum coupon inserts from newspapers in major cities in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Utah, Virginia, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Maryland, and Texas. check here to see if your newspaper is still on the distribution list Note:  Washington Post is not listed. if you are affected by this change, you may wish to Contact Valassis and ask…

Mint.com – free personal financial tracking!

Financial, Software, Uncategorized
Since it's the beginning of the year its that time again to start getting taxes ready and organize my financial information. I used to be a big fan of Quicken and Money but both programs have limitations and require a lot of work in my opinion.  I usually would have to spend 1 to 3 hours a month to add all of the account information and figure out my financial situation.  In addition, I prefer not to pay $30 to $60 for software that I didn't think really helped me much.  So, I did some research a couple weeks ago and I discovered Mint.com. What is Mint.com? Mint.com is a personal online financial tracking system for free!  That's right free!  You create a secure account online and add your login…

CVS Shopping Trip 2/4/2009

CVS, Shopping Trips, Uncategorized
I've been away for a while because everyone in my family seems to have gotten sick.  My husband and I got the stomach flu and it was horrible.  I don't wish that on anyone.   Remember to wash your hands all of the time! I went to CVS to pick up a prescription for my daughter.  She has an ear infection.  I got a $25 gift card with a new or transfer prescription coupon that I got at the Red coupon machine from my Nana's card!  I have over $130 in gift cards.  (Because of all of the prescriptions I've had to be on in the last couple of weeks.)  Several of the stores in my area like Safeway, and Giant have coupons in their ad for $25 to $30 gift…

The Couponizer

Coupons, general, Uncategorized
For Christmas I asked for the Couponizer.  My dear husband didn't understand that you have to buy it online.  He looked at the bookstores trying to find it.  After Christmas he mentioned that he couldn't find it. Last week, I ordered it and here is my experience with it so far.  It is a very neat system! I opened it up and it came together with a How-To book, scissors, plastic carry bag and the Couponizer book. 1.  I'm impressed at how organized it is.    It has a pocket for the bonus cards.  This makes it so handy! [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="267" caption="Thanks BeCentsAble"][/caption] 2.  I was able to fill it up with all of the coupons I use.  I still have plastic file folders that I store the Sunday…

Part 1: Car: $200+ SUV! Talk about saving!

Uncategorized, Vehicle
Think about this? How much do you spend on a vehicle? Have you ever thought about how much your transportation costs you per year? Do you calculate the payment + fuel + maintenance? Part 1 I've been reading a lot of blogs recently about how people save money and what they have been doing about their savings for 2009.  I want to share how my husband and I have saved a lot of money.  We own used vehicles. Some of the blogs talk about saving money to buy a new car or update a 10 year+ car.  Which is perfectly fine but I want people to think about it very carefully and realize they can save by buying or repairing a used car. First let me mention a couple of…
