Holly’s Savings is now Redberrydeals.com

For a couple months now I've been trying to decide what to do with my savings blog.  I really want to keep it going but with a real name and URL.   I came up with Redberrydeals.com.   Now, when you click on my old links such as http://holly.luddite.net, it will automatically transfer you to http://redberrydeals.com.    Red berry is for Holly.  Cute!  I thought so. In the next couple weeks I hope to get a new blog format with a logo in place.  Feel free to submit any ideas or suggestions.  I would love to hear them.

2010 Magazine Coupon Schedule

Are there any other magazines that offer coupons besides All You? I did some searching and found the 2010 Magazine Coupon Schedule which lists several popular magazines some I've subscribed to.  The magazine that will follow this program all year is Woman's Day.    See my post HERE on a great deal I have with CampusFundraising.  Remember it ends March 15. March 12 I was trying to decide which magazines to order besides All You.   I'm definitely going to order Woman's Day (68 tri-weekly issues) – normal newsstand price $2.79 each.  Pay only $0.41 per issue.

Giant Shopping Trip 03/06/10 – saved 50%

Here is the scoop.  I spent $34.96 at Giant today and saved $36.12.   Plus, I got a $5 and $3 catalina to use on my next trip.    I saved 50%! I used coupons from the Small Victories magazine available at Giant. Ask customer service for this booklet. There are 4 - $1 double coupons in the Giant circular. Check your Giant circular because it is only available in those ads sent home. I did 2 catalina deals on this trip. Spend $15 of frozen food and get $5 Spend $15 of Nature's Promise (Giant's Organic brand) and get $3 This is what I did: 1 - Cornbeef Brisket point cut $1.49 lb = $7.69  (I will make it this week and have for dinner and a couple lunches)…

On Saturday I stopped at CVS to get some Benadryl for my daughter.  She had a very strange case of hives on Friday and the doctor said that she was ok but must have been exposed to something that she was allergic to.  We just can't figure out what it could be.   The hives didn't last long.  She wasn't bothered by them either. Does anyone know of places that sell bulk food?

I was just reading MoneySavingMom.com's post about her shopping trip this week and purchasing Bulk food from a local store that just sells bulk food at great prices.  I'm super excited about this because in some cases it is a lot cheaper and healthier. Do you know of a store in the Washington metro area (Northern Virginia, DC, or Maryland) that sells bulk food? I did a little research and found a place in Harrisonburg, Virginia http://grandmaspantryva.com that is a couple hours away.   The prices are really good.  A great stockpiling place!  I’m curious of the cost of shipping. “Sucanat, Natural – priced per Pound” $1.69 Unrefined Sugar – (Demerara) – Priced per Pound $1.39 Occident Flour – Unbleached – Priced per Pound $0.69 Anybody purchased from them before?

Harris Teeter Shopping Trip – 02/23/2010

I needed milk and I really wanted to go to Harris Teeter for the last day of super double coupon event.  Thanks to my wonderful couponizer I did have several coupons that I could use to make the trip well worth my while. Here is a neat hint in the front of the store most Harris Teeter stores will have a clearance setup.  This store had a lot of medicine but a lot of it was expired!!! Oops!! Not even sure if they are allowed to sell expired medicines.  Anyway, always check you never know what deals you might find.
